Pebble Or Boulder

Yesterday I was walking across a parking lot when my left foot stepped on a pebble and I began to lose my balance. Fortunately, I was holding onto a friend's hand and he kept me from falling.
I began to think about how a small pebble could make one stumble. It the rock had been a huge boulder I would have seen it and side stepped it but I did not see the pebble until I had stumbled.
In His still small voice God spoke to me. He said, "Satan is not going to put large boulders or temptations in your Christian walk. He knows you will not rob a bank or murder someone so instead Satan throws small pebbles or temptations in your path.
He may toss the pebble of just fudging a little on your taxes or telling you that you have a reason to hate someone. He likes to throw the pebble of laziness in our life by whispering to you in the morning that it is ok to sleep in and miss your quiet time just this once. Perhaps on a Sunday morning he whispers the same thing it will not hurt to miss a church service just this once. There is also the pebble of fear of looking foolish, a pebble that often keeps us from witnessing. Another pebble Satan may throw is the pebble of what's the use. You struggle while all your co-workers seem to have it all together without Jesus. They drive nice cars and you could to if you didn't tithe. But don't you see , Satan does not have to throw pebbles in their paths they are already on the broad path that leads to destruction.
Pebbles come in different shapes and sizes and believe me they will come. The devil wants to see you fall. What can keep you from falling?
As I mentioned earlier I was holding onto my friend's hand and that is what kept me from falling. We need to be holding onto Jesus' hand. We need to be holding onto follow believer's hands. We need to hold each other up in prayer. We need to realize we will stumble but if we are praying, reading God's Word and worshipping God will hold us up.
Also know that if we fall our loving heavenly Father is there to pick us up, brush off our skinned knees, and get us walking on the straight and narrow path again.

In Him,
Hope
