My Father's House

This Sunday is Father's Day. I made a choice about Father's day this year. I've decided to celebrate Father's Day with my father this year. I'll get up and head over to his house on Sunday morning, there is always lots of people at his house on Sunday mornings, he has a big house. I'll spend some time talking to him. I'll thank him for everything he has given me, thank him for his forgiveness, his grace and most of all the love he gives me. I'll thank for all of the wonderful people in my life. I'll thank him for you, my friend. If you haven't guessed already, I'll be spending this Sunday with my Heavenly Father at his house (the church), not my earthly father (although, I will call him on the phone to wish him a happy Father's day).

Of course I have to have a gift. I've been thinking real hard, trying to come up with a gift for him. I thought, what do you buy someone who has (and gives) everything. I can't give a tie or a bottle of cologne, Then it hit me. I've decided this year for father's day I would give you the gift. Nothing would make our Father smile bigger than giving of ourselves to others. No gift I could give him would be more treasured, then giving to someone else on his day.

The gift I choose to give away? My love. Yes, I know, my love is no where near as big as my Father's love for you. My love is only a small portion of his. I guess my thought is the more love I give away and the harder I try to love others like my father loves you, the bigger my love will become. What could be better than giving something so valuable away and watching it grow.

My hope and prayer for you this Sunday is that you will treasure God's love for you. On Sunday, think about your Father, then head over to His house and thank him. You'll find others there, thanking him too. As for my gift for you this Father's day. My gift for you, my love, once given will grow bigger than me. So big, I hope you'll give it away and share your love with others. Happy Father's Day!
