Writing out my Christmas list,
Of the friends whom I adore.
It looks as though I have left one out,
So I check my list once more.
I'd hate to think,
There may be one so small that I'd forgot.
In my mid December list,
Of names that I just jot.
There's Mel and there's Sarinah,
And Toni's names there too.
If I have missed someone out
I don't know what I'll do.
Just then I remembered
Evidently
Someone's name was
Under my nose clearly now I See
It wasn't a name,
Off a list I'd left out.
But a reason I was there,
That I had to make a count.
Caught up in the hurry,
And the stress Christmas brings.
Tripped by the ribbons,
Wrapping paper and strings.
I'd left off my live saviour,
Out in the cold.
Forgotten he's turning,
Another year old.
Before I'd been grinched,
This holiday season.
I sat and remembered,
That Christ was the reason.
While all gifts are unwrapped,
From under the trees.
My first words this Christmas,
Are spent on my knees.
