Adaptability
Our good friend Mr. Webster defines adaptable as: 1. : capable of being or becoming adapted 2. : to make fit (as for a specific or new use or situation) often by modification
While being adaptable means opening your mind to change. I feel the most important quality you'll need is a great attitude. An attitude that is open to all things.
This brings to mind the serenity prayer used by alcoholics anonymous: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change… Courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference…
We have to remain adaptable and not get ourselves locked into having only one way to do something. If you're not flexible and you have only one fixed thought or context to operate from, you'll miss so much. So many opportunities. Simply said, a leader must be adaptable so that they'll recognize the chance to make a difference.
Become an adaptable person. Open you mind and help others. Recognize the times when your not being open. Work to be better than you ever thought you could. Encourage yourself to be adaptable, flexible and creative in your life.
This means you'll have to step out of your zone. You know... Your zone of comfort. Get out of the "comfort zone" where you feel safe. Go beyond where you normally go, that area we all fear... The extra mile.
Wayne Dyer says: "It's never crowded along the extra mile". Now you know why.
Figure out what brings out the best in you. Where you get excited and your passion shows to others. Apply yourself to those interests. You'll find that it's so much easier to step out of your comfort zone when you're doing what you love to do.
Here are a few tips for you on how to be more adaptable: Have an open attitude. Put a little gratitude in your attitude. Encourage yourself to be flexible. Don't be afraid of change... Embrace it. Open your mind, heart and soul. Accept what you can not change.
If you'll step up to the plate, have a great attitude and a open mind to be adaptable in any situation... You'll be a champion. A great Champion.
